Evidence of mitochondrial capture in Australian glass shrimp (

چکیده

Context The Australian glass shrimp (Paratya australiensis) has been identified as a cryptic species complex and several lineages occur sympatrically in eastern Australia. In south-eastern Queensland, the predominant are ‘4’ ‘6’, although only known area of sympatry Conondale Range is result translocation. Aim Our aim was to determine any evidence natural between two Mary River catchment using polymerase chain reatction–restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis. Methods Of six sites sampled, one site showed Lineage 4 6, so 39 individuals from this were sequenced mtDNA COI gene neighbour joining tree revealed existence lineages. Results On basis sets nuclear markers (allozymes microsatellites), there no species, because all loci conformed Hardy–Weinberg expectations alleles identified. Conclusion These results led inference that could be due mitochondrial capture. Implication current situation Broken Bridge High historical interbreeding reflected data but not evident data.

Phylogenetic Systematics of the Australian Fairy Shrimp Genus Branchinella Based on Mitochondrial Dna Sequences

Phylogenetic reconstructions derived from analyses of DNA sequence variation in a segment of the mitochondrial ribosomal RNA (16S) gene revealed an extensive radiation of species within the genus Branchinella from Australia. Genetic differentiation was evident among all of the species analyzed, including two recently discovered species. There was limited agreement, however, concerning taxon aff...

Multimeric hemoglobin of the Australian brine shrimp Parartemia.

The hemoglobin molecule of the commercially important brine shrimp Artemia sp. has been used extensively as a model for the study of molecular evolution. It consists of nine globin domains joined by short linker sequences, and these domains are believed to have originated through a series of duplications from an original globin gene. In addition, in Artemia, two different polymers of hemoglobin...

Lack of mitochondrial DNA variation in Australian Drosophila buzzatii.

Drosophila buzzatii is native to Argentina and Brazil and was introduced to Australia, probably between 193 1 and 1936, during the biological control program for prickly pear cacti (Opuntia spp.) (Mann 1970; Barker 1982; Barker et al. 1985). It lives and breeds in rotting tissues of prickly pear and apparently is restricted to this niche (Barker and Mulley 1976 ) . Populations of D. buzzatii in...
